Last night as I was putting this guitar together and hoping to get some strings on it this morning (which worked out) I relized that I am not sure what the fingerboard and bridge are made out of. I do know for sure it is one of two Delbergias.

When I was cutting the slots in the bridge, I was able to get a couple of wiffs, so I am 90% sure now that I know what they are BUT, I am still not positive. There was still lots of rubbing compound/lacquers in the air

The guitar sounds good and plays nice and I haven't set it up yet so I am fairly excited about this one even if I am not sure what it is made of.

John, it certainly looks nice, whatever it is. In fact, that is a really pretty guitar. I like everything about it.

What's the back / sides? Did you keep track of that?

Steve

I'm guessing Madagascar Rosewood B&S, is that flamed maple binding?

Yeah, that has to be madrose for the back and sides...

That fingerboard looks Brazilian to me.

Looks like BRW to me as well. That is really a nice looking guitar! The back and sides look like Mad RW to me too, is that what it is?

Nice work John!

Yea it is a Mad/Rw back and sides...Cedar top 000 with 25.4" scale.

I remember debating with myself, (nobody else to talk too) about the fingerboard/bridge material and thought that I might want to use Mad r/w to go with the rest of the guitar. For some reason that I can't remember I think I used the brazilian. When I was cutting the string slots last night, It did seem to smell like brazilian, (looks, smells like ... must be) Sheese what an airhead.

As I was writting this, I got an brainstorm to check my DB to see what was entered for material! Yeah great idea, too bad I didn't enter all the data for it

Oh well brazilian it'll be.

Thanks for the nice comments too. I got what seems like piles of guitars here at the moment, so when I got some time, I will post a few pix.

John,

is that the madrose you picked up at ASIA from LMI that I was trying to pry from you? Looks great!

Terry,

Nope that guitar was built prior to the ASIA trip but didn't have finish on it yet. I did however get that set from LMI a couple of years ago. I do try to let me wood sit for a least a couple of years before I build with it, although I may use that other LMI set in the near future. It is a nice one.

John,
I didn't think it was the same set. The one at ASIA looked different, maybe even nicer. Had me envious!

Have a great time at H-Burg

It is so clean looking. The absence of inlay on the beautiful board sure is nice. The finish looks flawless and mirrorlike.
